yest before i went to bed, i decided to continue the "Passion and Purity" book by Elisabeth Elliot.
and it felt like God was teaching me through the book. The chapter that i read was so apt for my situation. Loneliness. Coming for exchange alone, the thing i was most afraid of was loneliness. There were several times that i felt so lonely and afraid. There were times i missed home so bad, i cried. Always asking myself if i will be able to handle all these. many of you will probably know that i don't like to be alone. I still don't but I've learnt to lean on Him. and to those of you out there, who is feeling the loneliness.. 1. Be still and know that He is God. use the stillness to quiet your heart before God. Get to know Him. He is still in charge. 2. Remember that you're not along. Jesus promised His disciples "Lo, I am with you always." (Matthew 28:20). Nevermind if you cannot feel His presence. He is there, never for one moment forgetting you. 3. Refuse self-pity. Turn your thoughts to Christ who has already carried your griefs and sorrows. 4. Accept your loneliness. It is one stage, and the only one stage, on a journey that brings you to God. It will not always last. 5. Do something for someone else. No matter who or where you are, there is something you can do, somebody who needs you. Pray that you may be an instrument of God's peace, that where there is loneliness you may bring joy. I've learnt a lot from just this chapter itself. of cos gained a lot during this exchange as well..another 2.5months to go. Don't waste it. Wherever you are, be all there.
